It is a privilege to be writing to you today as the Principal of Mountain View Elementary
School located in Cordova, New Mexico 35 minutes from Santa Fe. This is a very special
small community school located on the road to Truchas, where we view the snow-covered
Truchas peaks and the Mountains of Northern New Mexico.
Mountain View Elementary School is rich in tradition and is known for its community
involvement. I am proud to be a new member of this school community. At this unique
small school, the experienced and talented faculty and staff do their best to maintain the
essence that makes Mountain View so special and at the same time, introduce new ideas
and programs that are aimed at taking the school and its students into the 21st Century.
The world around us is changing very rapidly and the intimate knowledge of each our
students helps us individualized learning as we prepare all of our students for a complex
world, that is increasingly competitive and hyper-connected.
As a staff, we continue to stress the essence of quality core teaching and at the same time,
reinvigorate the academics, with the arts, electives and extra-curricular activities to the full
extent that we can in our small school setting. We encourage artists and scientists of the
greater Northern New Mexico community to volunteer to help bring the arts, sciences
and enrichment opportunities to our students.
I encourage anyone who learns about this spectacularly placed school to come and visit
and see for themselves what a quality, community-based public school is like. As you
arrive and step into our school, you will immediately sense a special place, a school
with a strong purpose, a sense of calm and quiet study, and most definitely- a strong
sense of pride from our students, parents and teachers who truly love our most unique
mountain school.
Thank you for your interest in our school.
Yours Truly,
Dr. Ray Griffin
Principal
